The Glute Max is more than just a cushion to be sat on… it is the major driving force for forward propulsion and is also required for a stable pelvis and lower back. Strengthening this muscle will occur naturally through running (particularly on hills) but additional exercises to build power and endurance will be of huge benefit to your performance and also for injury prevention.
