They say there is no secret recipe, no trick to becoming the best at what you do…
Ask anyone that is the best at what they do and they will tell you that concept is absolute rubbish!
Of course there is a recipe; of course there is a simple “trick” for want of a better term.
That trick is FOCUS.
A good friend and mentor of mine recently reminded me what FOCUS really means:
Nobody falls onto the top of the mountain. You have to set your eyes on the peak and go, and go, and go until you get there.
How easy it is to get distracted by the view along the way, or the wide open path that leads in another direction.
How easy it is to spot another peak that seems a little easier to reach and then change course.
Worse yet; how easy it is to never even gaze up at a peak, and to simply concentrate only on where you have been and where you are right now.
And how easy it is to look at others on their peaks and presume they are somehow different to you or that they possess something you do not.
If this is you, STOP being so self indulgent. STOP making excuses for not being where you want to be. STOP asking “why can’t I” and START saying “I CAN”.
FOCUS on that mountain top, set your gaze and never, never ever take your eyes of it.
Success will be yours.
